I’m going to sound like a 90-year old reminiscing on ‘the good ol’ days’ but it has to be said: “They don’t make TV like they used to”. Sex and the City and FRIENDS undoubtedly raised the bar, but the idea of watching TV just doesn’t appeal to me as much as before. With the exception of Modern Family & Desperate Housewives, there aren’t many shows which I am dying to catch up with on the new season.
Although that correlation may also do with the fact that TV in Mumbai is pretty terrible. MasterChef and Kaun Banega Crorepati (i.e. = Who Wants to Be a Millionaire) seem to be favorites here and if you’re not a fan of either, you’re pretty much doomed…or well-stocked with DVDs. One thing I can, however, count on from TV here is its loyalty to FRIENDS. Seven years later and the reruns are still in full form, and for that I am extremely grateful. That is one show which will never, ever get old. Don’t even ask me who my favorite character is because I won’t be able to decide and as for my favorite episode, way too many come to mind such as:
The One With Ross’s Sandwich
“You took my sandwich…MY sandwich”…hahaha CLASSIC
I guess I would’ve shared Ross’s sentiments too if that happened to the sandwich I had for lunch last week…even though it did lack any ‘Moist-Maker’:
“Thanksgiving Came Early” Sandwich:
*Ideal if you like the combination of sweet and savoury*
Ingredients:
- Cream Cheese
- Strawberry jam/fruit preserves
- Turkey
- Lettuce
- Rye bread/ whatever you prefer
…and because Thanksgiving is never complete without pie, I had no choice but to snack on one of these babies later on:

Glad to see you’re still lovin’ the Nak’d Bars!
Have you tried Gingerbread?!? Makes me feel Christmassy!
ps. Will you come & make me sandwiches for lunch?!
I haven’t tried the gingerbread flavor although my aversion to ginger makes me very hesitant :)!
Man that sandwich is ballin! Nom!!! And those bars sound good, I gotta get some! 🙂
Nak’d bars are the UK-equivalent of LaraBars- so yum!
Completely agree – TV these days is utter crap but I do love Modern Family! (And DH, but I’ve yet to catch up on this season.) Friends has got to be one of the best shows of all time. Whenever it was on TV last year my housemates would moan at me to change the channel but I never get sick of it.
Top friends line is a tough one but one of my all time favourites is the one with the holiday armadillo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCowrXGwdjs
Hahah thanks for this- i forgot about this episode, love it! I think I’m going to stick with Santa!
I could not choose a favorite line from friends! I have to agree with you, TV is pretty terrible lately. I still haven’t seen modern family though! I’ve heard it’s good, so I’ll have to check it out.
You MUST start MOdern Family…you’ll be SO glad you did!
I’ve never tried the turkey + jam combo but I bet I’d like it! I love the egg + jam combo…but you already know that 🙂
Yes! It takes the egg, cheese, and jam combo to the next level!
Awesome sandwich!! 🙂
What an intense sandwich! Thanks for the idea 🙂
Hope you enjoy it!
Ooo my this is a rather delightful sandwich! I know I would love the addition of the jam
DUUUUDE Khushboo, I just posted a post about sandwiches too! Great minds think a like (and enjoy stuffing between carbs). Gotta say though that that sandwich looks beyond the realm of glory.
I really need to re-brush on my Friends; it’s been at least a few years since I’ve re-watched!
Great minds indeed! It’s all about the carbs, the bread makes all he difference!
I can imagine turkey and jam being a great combo since I <3 turkey and cranberry sauce. You've got me craving a turkey sandwich – must remember to go pick some up for the deli today. My new favorite combo is tofu, pb and siracha. So delicious!
Tofu + pb is my fave veg sandwich…always hits the spot!
i LOVE that friends moment. its one of the greatest… i love it when he says.. you threw my sandwhich AY-WAYYYYY hahaha hilarious. never gets old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m with ya on the whole tv thing. I just watched an episode of One Tree Hill and it was so…underwhelming.
Underwhelming- haha love that word!
Friends was the most fabulous show! Perfect for 30 minutes of entertainment. And I had the biggest crush on Ross!
Ross, really? I always found him so greasy..I’m a sucker for guys with humor so Chandler was my favorite!
I was a huge Ross fan too! I like nerdy guys though. 🙂
oh my gosh choosing a fav line from Friends is far too difficult! I watch an episode every night before I go to bed…haha – but one of my fav episodes is when they try to move the couch in the stairwell yelling ‘PIVOT!’ I laugh just thinking about it.
Hahah I have that whole scene playing out in my head right now!
hey k, love your blog, i’ve just discovered your blog..and couldn’t be happier at my discovery. 🙂
Thanks so much & welcome to my blog 😀
