I had a different post planned for today but suddenly it doesn’t seem as important.
In typical fashion, I woke up on Tuesday morning and checked my messages, Facebook & Instagram. Between seeing photos & statuses about the Boston bombings and prayforboston hasthags, nothing really made sense.
Even after reading countless articles, watching Obama’s speech and looking through various images online, I still can’t comprehend how or why it could happen. The Boston Marathon is meant to be the crème de la crème of all marathons and crossing the finish line should have been one of the greatest moments for those running. Instead limbs were blown off, lives were lost, and runners were robbed the opportunity to celebrate the glory of finishing.
I can’t even imagine what those affected and their friends & families are going through, but I know that I’ll continue to say an extra prayer tonight. Although my immediate thought was “What kind of sick world are we living in”, the amount of heroism and support that followed the attacks squashes any doubts. From blood donations to other people opening their homes to those stranded and restaurants offering free food to emergency workers & hungry citizens, I am truly amazed. It’s times like this which make you realise that regardless if you are a runner, American, or have any ties with Boston, there’s one thing which brings us all together: humanity. If you still have a doubt in your mind, this article might make you think otherwise.
Such an horrific tragedy, but you’re right there was so much good that came out. People really band together.

Absolutely horrific…but it’s wonderful to hear about the people who stepped up to help. That shows true human nature and decency right there.
If anything it restores the notion that humanity does in fact still exist 🙂
You’re right this is a horrific and senseless tragedy. But the amount of compassion and love that surfaced that day and I’m sure will continue to surface for days, weeks, and even years to come is an amazing thing.

What happened in Boston really shook me to the core, and I’m not even a runner so I can’t imagine what runners or those living in Boston must have been going through. Focusing on the helpers really helped, though. It’s amazing how people rise up and come together in times of tragedy.
It’s crazy to think how something like this could happen in such an everyday occurrence like running! Just thinking about it makes me shudder!

My heart is so broken. I’m still having a hard time wrapping my head around what happened–and I know I’ll never understand–but it’s the people that rise up and come together in the face of tragedy that give me hope. Sending hugs your way. <3 xoxo
The whole situation still seems a bit too surreal and probably will continue to be for a very long time!
Beautifully written.. it’s sad.. it’s sick. You are seeing in this in a more positive light.. I definitely see the good in people, but it is kinda sad and scary what kind of sick world are we living in? It never ends! Things like this didn’t happen as much when we were little, or maybe we just didn’t know.
I couldn’t agree more…between the bombings in Boston on Monday and Afghanistan, earthquake in Dubai yesterday and bombings in Bangalore today, it just seems to keep getting worse :(!
It’s completely tragic, but the heroism which came out was remarkable. Reminds us we are all in this together.

it’s sad beyond everything, all these people wanted to do was run and accomplish simple marvelous goal. all they wanted was to run.
It’s scary what the risk of completing an everyday activity like running has turned into!
Humanity is right. I’m so impressed at how people unite in the face of tragedy/evil.
Hopefully it can continue even in the absence of tragedy!
I will never understand why people commit such brutal acts of violence like this. But I do understand human goodness – and it is what keeps me optimistic!
