Merry Christmas Eve!!
As much as I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s Christmas lunch with turkey and all the trimmings, let’s talk about fast food for a sec. Over the past year, I’ve noticed one emerging food trend in particular: gourmet fast food. Forget McDonald’s- suddenly hot dogs are served with champagne, truffle parmesan fries are the rage, and burgers are offered on menus side-by-side with lobster. Especially after trying out Burger & Lobster on Friday, I hope this trend sticks!
For someone who gets overwhelmed with too many options, I loved their minimal offerings. As a restaurant with no menu, our waitress informed us of the 3 dishes available:
- 1 lb lobster with garlic butter
- Lobster roll- brioche roll stuffed with lobster meat in a Japanese mayo
- 10 oz 100% beef burger
My mom & I ordered the lobster (steamed & then chargrilled). Juicy lobster meat dipped in hot garlic butter…trust me, it did NOT dissapoint. I had a bite of my brother’s lobster roll and it also tasted absolutely divine! I always thought I wasn’t a fan of brioche but apparently I was very wrong.
And if the entrees seem limited, the dessert options are even less:
- Chocolate praline mousse
- Vanilla cheesecake drizzled with a salted caramel sauce
Everything about the cheesecake sounds right up my alley but I was way too stuffed for dessert! My mom & bro shared the mousse and really enjoyed it.
Things got messy by the end of it and let’s just say that Burger & Lobster is not the ideal restaurant for a first date ;). Forget lobster picks & crackers, hands are the only way to go when scooping out every last bit. Although £20 may seem a bit pricey for a burger, it’s a steal for the amount of lobster served. Between the food & fantastic service, Burger & Lobster is definitely worth “shelling” out for!

Holy gorillas that lobster!!!!! Man I’m drooling over here and I just had breakfast haha! I’d totally inhale that deliciousness too, dang talk about a foodgasm 😉

Burger and lobster seems like an interesting combo for a restaurant to serve. i’d be all over that lobster too though!
I guess it’s an extension of the usual “Surf & Turf” meal..somewhat?
Im not a big fish fan, but I do like fast gourmet food!! Subway and Chipotle would have to be on top of my list 🙂
Chipotle is high on the list for me…and Subway is pretty yum too 🙂
I’m allergic to shellfish, so while I can’t exactly say that your lobster meal is right up my alley, I do love me some fast food. Chipotle would have to be my first pick, but sadly I can’t get it around these parts so I’m forced to enjoy the occasional McD’s french fry 😉
If we ever met up, a trip to Chipotle would definitely be on the agenda 🙂
Merry Christmas eve K. I’ve never tried real lobster, just on pasta. 20 pounds is a great price for all you got. One of my fave fast foods is chipotle. Love Mexican cuisine. 🙂

Yum that meal looks way too good to be fast food! I don’t think I’ve ever had gourmet fast food, but I’m a big fan of Chipotle and Subway.

I haven’t had gourmet fast food but I like to eat at places that use fresh (organic) ingredients and provide quick service. This place sounds really good though. If they had a veggie option, it’d be right up my alley! Happy holidays to you and your fam, K!!!

Two choices out of three are lobster dishes!? I wouldn’t be complaining, but kind of funny.
I love sushi rolls.. I guess it’s not so quick, but if you have all the ingredients, it’s a quick dish..
Also, once in a while.. I crave a super meaty hamburger from in-n-out!!

That lobster roll looks so delicious right now! I’m in ♥ with seafood. I’m actually addicted to shrimp and crab legs, melted in butter! YUM! Looking at your food photos is making me hungry, lol!
