On the rebound – Khushbu Thadani

On the rebound

Dear Arc Trainer,

I have been seeing you around for a long time but I never had the courage to approach you.  You kinda intimidated me and truth be told, my energy was focused elsewhere.

Although I am only just getting to know you, I want to first apologize for underestimating you.  After a few encounters with your brother Elliptical, it was hard not to jump to conclusions. I also want to say a few words of thanks.  It’s no secret that the Treadmill has always been my first love, but lately we seem to be distancing more and more. Whenever we come in contact, I seem to feel more hurt and I think it’s just a matter of time till things can go back to normal. I will always have a soft spot for it but for now we’re on a break.

I will always remember the happiness it provided me and the amounts more it will give me in the future after I have a chance to heal.  I always thought that it was indispensable and no other machine could give me the same high.  Fortunately I was wrong.  While I am by no means using you as second best, you have provided me the comfort I need during this difficult spell without running.  Initially it was really frustrating to not being able to turn to something familiar and I slowly began losing interest in working out entirely. Fortunately this pain forced me to step out my comfort zone and try new things.

Thank you for showing me the light and reigniting my flame.  Thank you for giving me the tough love I need to grow, even if it’s not what I always think I want. Thank you for constantly challenging me, raising my heart rate extremely high, and drenching my t-shirt in sweat. Thank you for being kind to my stubborn shin that refuses to rest completely.  I hope you’re ready to take our relationship to the next level, because for the next week or 2, it’s you and me buddy.

Yours sweatily,
Khushboo

P.S. When things go back to normal with Treadmill, I promise to still show you the love…even if it might not be as often as I do now.
