Attitude of Gratitude – Khushbu Thadani

Attitude of Gratitude

As cliché as this post is, I could not help but reflect upon some of the things I am thankful for on Thanksgiving.  As much as I would love to list out everything, this is a post and not a memoir so I’m going to try and keep it short & sweet:

My family: Yeah I know, this is a given but it has to be said one more time :)!  Fortunately I have always been very close to my family and our relationship is like a fine wine: it only gets better with time.  No matter how much we bicker, drive each other nuts, or rarely see each other we’re a solid unit.  I know I always have their love and support to fall back on, and that’s all the assurance I need.

The ability to travel: Whether it’s visiting my friends in Singapore, seeing my family in Dubai, attending a wedding in Prague, going home to London or a weekend getaway in Goa, 2011 has certainly added quite a few stamps to my passport.  I’m grateful that travel has always played a role in my life, and has enabled me to both explore new places and revisit familiar territory.

My sis & me in Paris 🙂

My Blackberry: I realize how superficial this sounds but it’s true: I am lost without my Blackberry.  I use it to communicate with friends/family around the world, send out work e-mails, tweet, take photos, set reminders, plan my days, record my running times, get my daily hourly dose of Facebook and so much more.  It might not have snazzy apps like the iPhone but it’s great enough for me 🙂

Quick dry: For someone who cringes at the thought of leaving her nails naked, Quick Dry spray continues to be a Godsend for me!

My friends: I may not have thousands of friends, I may not walk into a party and say hello to a majority of the people there but one thing is for sure: the friends which I do have are my friends for life. It’s a mutual understanding that as much as I have their back, I know they have mine.  I am grateful whether or not we keep in touch, it’s almost natural to pick up from where we last left off.  And finally I am grateful that even though my friends all bring something different to the table, they are tied by a common thread in that they are real.  In other words,  my friends (not fleeting acquaintances) are honest, authentic, flawed, loyal, compassionate…and hilarious!

Naturally good head of hair: Given the amount of straightening, curling, highlighting and blow drying I put my hair through, I should be balding (TOUCHWOOD)!

My health: Despite suffering with malaria twice, being hit by a car, and almost blinding myself thanks to a torn contact lens yet I’m happy to say that by the grace of God, my immunity is great.  This past year, I have heard of so many people suddenly passing away, suffering a heart attack, or getting diagnosed with cancer.  It’s a constant reminder to never take my health for granted because at the end of the day, it truly is what matters most.

Great, now I want a cookie!

Iced Coffee:  Drinking it might be my favorite time of the day.  More than the caffeinated effects, I am grateful for the ritualistic aspect of my morning cup of iced coffee.  It’s right after I work out which means two things: my endorphins are on full throttle and breakfast is only a shower away :)….and it just tastes so freakin’ good!

My Fitness:  Most people crib about having to exercise and consider it a burden.  I am grateful that a) I actually enjoy working out, b) that I am physically able to work out and c) I have never struggled with an injury (touchwood)!

My blog:  Although I’ve said it before, I am grateful to have an outlet to share my thoughts, ideas, recipes, and all sorts of randomness.  I know some of my readers are a vegan so I’ll try to go easy on the cheese but I truly am grateful to have readers who actually choose to read my blog regularly and share their feedback with me.  And if you are reading this, chances are you stuck around for the entire post so thank YOU! 🙂

***Happy Thanksgiving***

What are you thankful for today?
