Living the dream – Khushbu Thadani

Living the dream

I came across this quote on an awesome blog and immediately fell in love with it because of just how much it resonated with me!  Given my passion in healthy living, people always ask me why I haven’t already made a career out of it.  To put it lightly, living out your dream is not always as easy as it seems.  Although I am not sure where exactly I am heading in the future, I am confident enough in my own capacity that my plans will eventually fathom into something great.  Till then, my blog is sort of like an outlet for me to project all these ideas and information which constantly pop up in my head.  Even though healthy living is not a career I am immersed in now, it doesn’t mean I am not constantly working towards my ultimate goal.

Over the last few months especially, I feel like I have finally found my voice…or in this case style of writing.  In reflection of that, I wanted to pimp out spruce up the layout of my blog, which I’m sure you regular readers must have noticed.   From the color of the footprints (peanut buttah baby) to the caricature’s running attire, I wanted all the changes to solely represent me.  Here’s a little ‘behind the scenes’ scoop, i.e. my thought process behind the blog-over:

  • My domain name has changed from kthadani.wordpress.com to demo.kthadani.com.  Getting rid of those 2 extra syllables makes my URL easier to remember, and fortunately anyone who types the old address will be redirected.
  • My header: More than just my favorite foods, my header now encapsulates a more balanced view of what my blog represents to me: food, fitness, fun.  Initially my blog mainly discussed ways to lose weight & low-calorie recipes.  Over time my notion of ‘healthy’ has evolved completely: it’s about getting a varied balance of nutrients, indulging my weaknesses in small doses, getting my heart rate up regularly and just doing things that make ME happy.  Rather than merely focusing on being a size ___,  it’s important to strike a balance between mental & physical health through quality nutrition, consistent exercise, and making the most of the present.
  • The KT logo. This is my favorite of all the changes, and all credit goes to my genius of a friend Pri.   If you look at the top left of my header and the right side panel, you’ll notice the logo comes in both brown and green .  The idea behind this was to give the ‘ying/yang effect’, with green representing stereotypical healthy foods and the brown mimicking chocolate i.e. one of my main indulgences.  While I’m all about the salads, oatmeal, and quinoa, my night isn’t complete without a square (or 3) of Lindt.  In any healthy lifestyle, there is always room for treats. The K & T join together to form a heart…a heart as in a healthy heart and my love for quality food, sweaty workouts, and life in general.  As for the bite marks, I think that’s self-explanatory ;).

Are you ‘living the dream’?  Or in other words, is your life going as planned/desired?
