You know you’ve matured when… – Khushbu Thadani

You know you’ve matured when…

Is anyone else a die-hard Sex And The City fan. That plus Friends (Modern Family is making its way up there) are shows that I can watch repeatedly yet enjoy them as much as the first time round.  Anyone remember that SATC episode where the girls are discussing their guilty pleasures?  When Carrie moves in with Aiden, she admits missing being able to eat a stack of saltines with grape jelly while standing up in the kitchen reading fashion mags. And then Miranda says her bit about putting Vaseline on her hands and sticking them in conditioning gloves while watching infomercials.

Well here’s mine:  I like staying at home on some weekends.  And when I do, there’s nothing more satisfying than whippin’ up a lil somethin’ somethin’ spectacular for dinner…and watching trash TV…and staying up ‘late’ because I know I don’t need to set an alarm the next morning.  Make no mistake of it: I love to party and go out with friends but I’m equally as much of a homebody.  And you know what? I indulged in one of those nights yesterday and damn well enjoyed it :).

The Friday feeling combined with a good pre-work run started my day off on the right foot. I was buzzing and ready to put my party hat on.   This led to the following  BBM convo with my crazy, party friend

Me: Dude let’s go out tonite
Friend: Let’s see
Me: C’mon let’s partyy woo *insert dancing emoticon*
Friend: I’ll see if I’m feeling better after work

Nonetheless, an exhausting ride on the local Indian train (this experience deserves a separate blog post) combined with an early start for work the next morning  meant my above intentions were short-lived.  Instead I ended up:

  • Practicing my Sheila moves for an upcoming dance at a friend’s wedding
  • Having a hot shower and washing my hair which was very much a necessity 😳
  • Watching Frasier- does anyone else see the resemblance between Frasier and Jack Nicholson?
  • Probably stalking you on Facebook 😉

And now for the highlight of the evening (food-related obv):

  • I made a bad ass bowl of lobster linguini with parmesan.  The combination of pasta and seafood has delicious written all over it.  And as easy as it is to make, this meal always feels special.

Wait, it’s not over:

  • Dessert (duh!) : a strawberry ice cream sundae…yeah baby! 😛

As for the title for this post: you know you’ve matured when you’re not ashamed to voluntarily stay at home on a Friday night!

And just for a little irony: guess who did end up going out last night? 😉

What about you? Any guilty pleasures?
