Smug much? – Khushbu Thadani

Smug much?

Exercising on holiday, a do or don’t? Definitely a do for me. I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a lousy packer.  If my luggage allowance is 30 kgs, chances are my bag will weigh 32 kgs.  Whether I’m travelling for 2 weeks or 2 months, my method of packing basically involves emptying the contents of my cupboard into my suitcase. More often than not, I grudgingly have to return half of that stuff to my wardrobe. My gymwear and trainers, however, are always 2 things that stay put in my suitcase.  I know working out on holiday isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I genuinely enjoy getting the oxygen flowing, if and when permits.  I suppose that’s a good thing considering I’m the first to ask for the dessert menu on holiday…you got to live a little right ;)?

While my workouts tend to be shorter than normal, I’m satisfied if I manage to incorporate even a short burst of 20 minutes of physical activity in my day…at least on those days where sleep doesn’t get the best of me :D. It’s easier to work out when staying at a hotel as the gym is merely a lift ride away. When that’s not possible, a DIY bootcamp is your next best bet. It may kick your bootay but here’s a productive way to spend 30 minutes.  All I’m saying is that it’s likely to bring out the sweaty beast in you ;):

*Get a pencil & paper, a watch, a chair, & a resistant band or dumbbells

*Warm up for 5 minutes, cardio of your choice

*Do 1 minute of each of the following moves, pausing only to write down the # of reps you completed of each:

jumping jacks
•push-ups
•crunches
•bicep curls
•lunges
•overhead press
(holding a dumbbell/resistant band in each hand, extend to ceiling then lower)
squats
•planks
•triceps dips on a chair

mountain climbers (in push-up position, alternate bringing one knee at a time toward chest)

*Repeat, trying to complete even more reps than you did in your first set.

*Cool down for 5 minutes

*Wipe off your sweat
